This is a walk of great variety. Starting on the Fynn Valley Walk from the north edge of Martlesham, after a short road section you take a footpath that meanders through a delightful stretch of woodland. This takes you to the edge of tidal Martlesham Creek, into which the River Fynn finds its way, continuing to the end of the Fynn Valley Walk along the estuary of the River Deben, a perfect habitat for a great variety of birds. You then walk through the centre of historic Woodbridge. After a short pavement stretch along the A12 you continue on paths through agricultural land and thence into a short but lovely stretch of heathland along bracken-fringed paths and back to the start.
This walk is one of three linked walks. The ID numbers of the walks are 4816, 4829, and 4834. Each walk is circular and includes a stretch of the delightful Fynn Valley Walk. If you do all the walks in ascending numerical order, as shown above, you will, in the process, have completed the whole of the FVW.
