A pub-to-pub canal walk along part of the Trent and Mersey Canal, the walk starts and finishes at the Ragley Boat Stop (known for good food and beer). It follows the canal eastwards towards Swarkestone, then heads north to the Bonnie Prince, a new pub with children's soft play area.

Did this walk on 21/04/09 - No problem parking my car. I think it is a lovely short walk. On a nice sunny day it is wonderful to walk along the towpath, watching canal barges, ducks & birds. You will also come across a very moving memorial to a young person. Most interesting is the lock, where boats move from one level to the next. Take your time hanging around here for a while. I was facinated by the marvel of this engineering. One bit I would just not bother with is - diversion to the second pub,(at pont 11) - the Bonnie Prince. Walk there has been spoiled by further development and heavy traffic at the roundabout, which negates the peace you have experienced along the towpath.

We tried this walk on 9th September 2007. Would strongly advise against leaving your car in the Ragley Boat Stop car park. We arrived before the pub opened with the intention of having lunch afterwards. We walked over to the pub but saw no signs of life. As we were starting the walk, the landlady ran out and amongst other things threatened to call the police to report our cars as stolen, and suggested that as far as she knew we might be drug dealers. For the record our walking party consisted of two men, two women and three children under the age of four in child carriers. Needless to say we moved the cars! Certainly not very hospitable.

Not all walks will be everyone's cup of tea. On a warm summer's day I'm sure a "not very special" towpath would be delightful.

Just did this walk today - very disappointing. Unattractive towpath - nothing special about it at all.
