A Circuit of Chatsworth House

The route, although relatively short, allows time to explore the grounds and if you wish Chatsworth House, worth a visit.

The walk leaves Baslow alongside the River Derwent, passing the nursery, through the deer-park and past the house itself. The house is magnificent.

Leave the view of the house and walk into Beeley, a typical Dales village. Stop and browse awhile. After Beeley the route takes us up onto the hillside and back into the estate. At the hunting lodge, there are good views over the house and surrounding countryside.

Please take time to explore the two villages, as there is much to see.

A little cracker of a walk - lovely views and lots of interesting features around. Navigation in line with the step-by-step given by the author is straightforward and precise and allows for peace of mind as you know you aren't going to get way off track. Highly recommended.

If you are in the area of Chatsworth, I urge you to complete this walk. The views are just stunning, I used a whole film taking photo after photo, excellent, we'll definetely be back, can't wait to see the views in winter.

16/05/06 David & Angie Steel - A great walk thoroughly recommend. We stayed at the Caravan Club site and the walk passes right by the rear gate entrance. Will do it again!

This is a wonderful varied walk with fantastic views. We completed it on our recent holiday in the Peak District and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the Chatsworth Estate. We chose the restaurant attached to the Chatsworth Farm Shop at Pilsley for our lunch and would urge you to do the same as the home cooked food was delicious. Be warned though that a trip around the farm shop could leave you with a big hole in your pocket as they sell such wonderful food!
