This walk is a real challenge, following for much of its length ancient paths that have yet to be renovated and waymarked. Not only is the route difficult to find in places, because it is rarely walked, it is often very overgrown. Nevertheless if you like an adventure and really want to see what the routes were like in the past give it a try, you will not be disappointed and the sense of achievement at the end is worth the effort. The walk starts easily enough from Almonaster, climbing to the San Christobal viewpoints; for the brave of heart the route then drops directly downhill to the Canaleja to Los Romeros path. After visiting the village of Los Romeros, the route then returns via a seemingly little-used path that climbs up one of the valleys on the north-east slopes of the Cerro de San Christobal, then over the shoulder to return directly to Almonaster.
