This is an excellent place for a summer afternoon circular stroll, listening to children laughing, birds singing, and ducks quacking. Feed the pigeons and admire the boldness of the tame squirrels coming close to beg for nuts. It's a superb walk round the park, and you will especially enjoy the two delightful landscaped and meandering lakes with the Swiss style cover footpath bridge ornamenting the lower park lake; (See photo on the right). Early American visitors were so impressed; especially by the jogging road all round it, that they copied the design for the famous New York Central Park.

Good for children, senior citizens, and everyone in-between; also good for dogs, wheelchairs & buggies. The whole of the walk is along hard paths so suitable footwear will be anything comfortable. There are refreshments and toilets in the modern pavilion close to the main entrance and next to the bowling greens. There are numerous benches for the occasional rest from walking, but no picnic tables.
