A delightful low-level route through the hamlets and villages of the D'Aulps Valley. The walk goes past traditional homesteads and through classically alpine woods and meadows.

Starting from a small 'aire' on the main road, the route runs parallel to the river and then through the traditional buildings of Ombre near Seytroux. Then a climb up the valley side leads to a long and beautiful section through woodland to reach an open meadow with fabulous views down to the village of La Baume and the Lac du Joty.

Cross over the river once again and the route climbs up to the village of Le Biot, where there are cafes and bars. A traverse on a 'monks' trod' through more woodland takes you past a pair of oratories to the hamlet of Bas Thex, with its ancient and tiny chapel.

The walk can be combined with a visit to the Abbey of St Jean D'Aulps (and in fact if you get a bus to the abbey you could start from there and walk via Waymark 18 to the start point).
