Bewcastle to Spadeadam and Return

The start and finish of the walk is Bewcastle, which has a castle and an ancient church with its very own Saxon cross. The walk itself uses open areas, which can be bleak at times, but on a fine day you will see Scotland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Solway Firth. After going through the local farms and using their roads, you eventually walk an old Roman road and take in a Roman signal station. Any budding map-reader will be able to make out other Roman areas of interest from your maps and rotating it to the ground.
