The walk leaves the picturesque village of Brinklow firstly along the Coventry Way (and later the Centenary Way), across fields to reach and cross both the Oxford Canal and the West Coast Main Railway Line. After crossing the railway, the walk crosses the site of the lost medieval village of Upper Smite with its associated fish-ponds before recrossing the railway and joining the Oxford Canal towpath. The walk then continues along the towpath until nearly back at Brinklow, where there is a short stretch of road-walking. Finally the walk passes by Brinklow Castle with its associated ridge and furrow fields, paying a quick visit to this Norman site before returning to the village.

A very pleasant walk and it was easy to follow the described route. There are plenty of interesting features along the way, with good views of fast trains passing the route along the canal. We took the walk during the Easter holiday and the canal was extremely busy with narrow boat traffic, so plenty of friendly people to wave and chat to. Brinklow itself is a very pretty village and the castle site is worth a quick look. We enjoyed the walk very much.

Lovely walk, thoroughly enjoyed it. At the moment (and probably for some months) there is major work being done at Waypoint 10 (Bridge 34), and all access is blocked. Carry on for about 500m to a car park, through there and turn right on the lane, which leads back to Brinklow. You miss the castle - unless you walk back to it - but the pub was calling to us by then, so we didn't.

Lovely walk. Really enjoyed it. The paths were very well kept, a sign of land owners, council and public pulling together. Would certainly do this walk again and had a lovely cheese & onion cob and pint at the Raven afterwards.

Did this walk and the instruction were so easy to follow and accurate, very helpful for myself and my friend that don't have a great sense of direction! We were pretty much right on the duration time, with a couple of drink stops along the way. Very enjoyable.

A lovely walk with little road walking. Map & directions easy to follow. Went with a friend to see if suitble for older walkers. Decided it was, so will be doing it again later in the year. Able to use toilets at the marina and also buy a welcome ice cream.

This is a lovely walk. The directions are very clear and precise. We spent a lovely 4 hours on this walk. Stopping off for a picnic lunch by the old branch of the canal (down some steps) just before crossing the white iron bridge. The only thing lacking was a bench, but the steps made a comfortable resting spot.
