A very pleasant coastal walk in East Sutherland, never more than 25m from the sea. There is an almost continuous sandy beach all the way from Brora to a mile or two from Golspie; and there are views across the Moray Firth to the coast of Aberdeenshire, Moray and Nairnshire. With binoculars you can see the Cairngorms. The path is good and with its sandy base, is dry.

En route there is a waterfall, a well-maintained broch (with info' about its history) and Dunrobin Castle (open to the public). We were delighted to pass about 20m from forty-plus seals basking on a sandy beach, not to mention several more lying on their backs on barely submerged rocks... they looked like inflatable imitations.

This is a delightful family walk (with dog).

9/10/2016 - Angela and Tom McCarthy

Did this walk in September 2016. Despite the heavy rain we thoroughly enjoyed the walk. We also saw 40-50 seals basking on the rocks. The dilapidated fishing bothy was a welcome shelter from the rain at waymark 7. Very easy walk to follow.
