From Carn Brae Village we follow the track skirting the north of the high ground along the course of the Great Flat Lode (see additional information). Soon we take a wide track up the western flank of the hill before joining the footpath that will lead us past rocky outcrops, the Basset Memorial (see additional information) and the medieval castle. The views from up here on a clear day are amazing. To complete the circuit we descend fairly steeply the western flank before looping left along the track that will bring us back to Carn Brea Village and the start.
