A great circular walk that can be done at all times of the year, as it is always pretty good underfoot with sensible footwear. The walk starts from the Fox Goes Free - a pub that is open all afternoon - at the tiny village of Charlton. Initially the route is flat with views of the rolling downs and then climbs steadily through the forest, where deer can often be seen. The firm track takes you to the South Downs Way for a stretch before descending back through the forest. There are no stiles on this walk and my dog loved it!

Did this one on Sun.2nd March. Whilst this is a decent walk I have to say that I have enjoyed better. This is very much a walk that simply takes you up to the South Downs Way along the top for a bit then down the other side to the start point. The scenery,in general, is much the same-forestry. Also a large part of the route is done twice. Sorry Sylvia, a bit unusual for me, and I must stress that this opinion is mine and only mine. Thank you anyway. Ray Churcher.
