Chipping Campden – Broadway Tower – Broadway – Chipping Campden

This beautiful and varied walk can be achieved in a morning or afternoon, with opportunities for refreshments (or lunch!) at the start, middle and end. It begins in the charming Cotswold village of Chipping Campden, where plenty of parking is freely available. There is also a map shop here should you require an OS map of the area. Along the route is an abundance of wildlife to be spotted and a well-marked path that is comfortably passable even in wet conditions.

The walk begins with a quick climb from Chipping Campden to Dover's Hill, which affords fantastic panoramic views to the west of the country towards Wales and the Brecon Beacons. There are also benches here to rest and a large grassy area for picnics. It heads southwards along the Cotswold ridge, along wide grassy stretches, country lanes, rocky paths and open fields. There is a public toilet after roughly three miles.

At the historic Broadway Tower (once a lookout post – you can go inside and explore for a small fee), the walk heads steeply downhill to Broadway, a large Cotswold village with many tea rooms and other shops. Here begins the return leg, as the walk heads north again, underneath the western ridge of the Cotswolds, eventually climbing back up to Dover's Hill, near the start of the walk. Wonderful views can be found all the way back to Chipping Campden, where there are again many charming places for a well-earned cup of tea and slice of cake!

Lovely walk and not very muddy today but it has been dry. We added a slight diversion walking into Broadway for a cream tea. Good instructions.

Walked this early Feb 2020. One of the muddiest walks we have ever undertaken. Broadway Tower at £5 per person was too dear for the 2 of us. Nice walk in very cold conditions

Just a fabulous walk. Loved it. At point 21 where you go left at the bench into the golf course we stayed on the right of the hedge along the fairway ( Amazing golf course ). I think we should have been the other side of the hedge. We managed to get through at the far end but would have been easier without the mistake. Breakfast at Huxleys in Chipping Camden set things off nicely.

Great walk. We went briefly wrong at point 20- There's a lot of room diagonally to the right... Wonderful views and quite challenging uphills at times.

1/4/13 We completed this walk on Good Friday, three days ago. There was still a lot of snow around on the higher ground which may have had something to do with us getting a bit lost before the golf course! We parked in Broadway (£6 in the long stay park) and started the walk from there. we had lunch sat by a very welcome fire in the King's Arms Chipping Campden. It was still very wet in places - not a frozen ground to walk on that we were hoping for but we enjoyed the walk nevertheless. I think the snow added to the beauty - and I enjoyed being a kid all over again and jumping in deep unsullied drifts!

Walked this on 27/01/2011 although starting from Broadway (pt16),walking to pt29 and then pt5 back to pt15 recording 12.31km (7.6m)taking 3h 40 min including coffee stop 15mins. Temp 1c-2c but with cold wind making it feel sub zero. Clear day - the views were good and the ground was hard due to recent overnight frosts. Directions good and easy to follow. Recommended.
