This is a pleasant walk through fields and meadows, with a stretch along the River Belah and a good pub at Winton.
The walk starts in Church Brough, where you should take the opportunity to visit the castle (free admission). There is also a good ice cream parlour at the entrance to the castle, selling locally made ice cream and teas.
En route you pass the excellent Bay Horse Inn at Winton, well worth a break for lunch or a quick drink. Finally you arrive in the small market town of Kirkby Stephen, after a short stretch alongside the River Eden.
Note that this is a linear walk; there are buses between Kirkby Stephen and Brough, or use two cars.
