A half day walk between the three delightful mountain villages of Cómpeta, Archez and Canillas de Albaide. It is a good introduction to the area including mountain streams, old Roman roads and the spectacular scenery for which this area is justly renown. Throughout the walk there are wonderful views over the Mediterranean coast of the northern Costa del Sol set against the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra de Tejeda and the Axarquía region.

We got this one wrong several times, perhaps because the river was running to high to follow the original trail and the entry into Cannilas from the Roman causeway didn't seem to work out. I was nipped by one of 2 loose dogs at the white farmhouse at point 12. Particularly liked the Roman path section and also the villages mentioned, particularly Archez.
