Constable Country 2

On this walk (the second in the Constable Country 'trilogy') you will use sections of two long-distance paths. These are the Essex Way and St Edmund Way. On the outward leg you have the option of visiting the Munnings Museum. The famous painter lived close to the route and of course, John Constable also lived and worked in the locality. You will pass several scenes painted by both artists and use a beautiful path beside the River Stour which Constable undoubtedly walked on many an occasion. Since the route also uses some paths on higher ground, you will also enjoy excellent views over the valley known as Dedham Vale. It is also possible to start and end this walk at Manningtree Station (see Waymark 10).
