A reasonably easy walk with a few interesting features along the route. Most of the route is along field- and woodland paths with only one steep climb through Jughole Wood from Snitterton. Near the top of the climb is an open cave 'The Jughole', collapsed at the top into a deep narrow ravine. The path passes close on the right. The cave is no longer fenced off, but this does not mean that it is safe to explore inside.

The descent into Bonsall is along narrow walled tracks which were formerly packhorse trails. The return is easier walking, being mostly downhill with one section from Wensley being along the side of the drive to a private house onto a green lane (kept well mown), before leading across fields into an area of larch woodland.

The pub used in the middle of this walk, the 'Kings Head', welcomes walkers and their boots. They offer a good-value menu and some real ales; there is an enclosed courtyard behind the pub, accessible through the bar area if you prefer to sit outside.
