The walk starts on the edge of the small village of Dobcross. The first part of the walk is a climb of about three kilometres, with several level sections to break it up. It follows part of the Delph Donkey route before walking along some rural roads to reach a small reservoir. After passing the reservoir the walk continues through a small industrial area before a steep climb to reach the edge of Scouthead. The climb continues along some country lanes, passing an 18th Century pub to reach the first high point. There then follows a short downhill section of about one kilometre before a short climb of one kilometre to reach the second high point.

From the second high point the walk drops down to the village of Delph using a country lane and footpaths across fields. After passing through the village you reach the River Tame and the Tame Valley Way. This is then followed back to the start point.

Just did the walk today 06/06/2021. At WM21 the landowner has put a notice on the gate regarding COVID19 regulations and a slight diversion. Continue down the lane for approx 25 metres to reach a small gate in a wall. Go through the gate and cross the edge of the garden to the stile in the corner. Continue the walk from the stile. The note explains the situation and the gate is marked with a note regarding Right of Way.
