Glen Nevis Gorge and Steall Waterfall

This is a short but impressive walk through a spectacular narrow gorge at the head of Glen Nevis which has been described as Himalayan in character. The walk emerges onto a lovely meadow backed by a stunning waterfall, the An Steall and then enters what appears to be a hidden glen. This walk, like most walks, is best done in fine weather, but it is also well worth doing even if the weather is wet or low cloud prevails, as most of its scenic splendour lies below the lowest cloud levels and after heavy rain the falls and the torrents of water rushing through the gorge only adds to its splendour.

27/08/07-Ray Churcher: Wife and I spent a few days in Fort William and decided to see this waterfall. Not a long walk and it's brilliant. The route takes you through a spectacular gorge on high rocky paths(quite safe if taken steady) then the view opens up to reveal the waterfall plunging down the mountain side in the distance. The route takes you right to the fall. Really recommend this one. Only problem to overcome was the flaming midges-they were a bloomin nuisance! Many thanks.

Fantastic little walk to take in the beauty of the An Steall Ban falls. An easy afternoon stroll with the kids, although there were a couple of points where holding hands was essential.
