From Hempton to Nether Worton and then on to Barford St Michael, this route is on minor roads, lanes and tracks, in the heart of Oxfordshire's rolling countryside. Lovely and quintessentially English, the scenes are peaceful and rural. Each place is remarkable, with individual, interesting characteristics and you will come across one of the smallest churches in Oxfordshire at Nether Worton, standing opposite a grand Jacobean manor-house. The scene is so delightful that you will want to linger to take it in and savour it. The whole walk is one of utter beauty and will enable you to feel and see the delights of a perfect country ramble.

We took this walk on a drizzly Saturday, 21/11/20, choosing it because it is all on lanes and so avoids the mud. It is easy to follow except for the final left turn in Barford St John (step 10). This lane is marked as a dead end and has a different name, not 'Snakehill'. The Snakehill name only appears at a right turn about a mile down the track. The countryside is pleasant and the lanes are reasonably traffic free, so it is a good wet-weather walk.
