Hillsford Bridge - Watersmeet - Countisbury - Lynmouth - Valley of Rocks - The Cleaves - Hillsford Bridge

This walk takes you through and above three of the most beautiful valleys in Exmoor. You will see Watersmeet in all its glory, look down on Lynton and Lynmouth from every angle except from the sea itself, sample the grandeur of the Valley of Rocks and have aerial views of the East and West Lyn Rivers and the Hoar Oak Water. This route is fairly strenuous, feeling more like a twelve-mile walk, but worth the effort!

The walk to Watersmeet on Exmoor in Devon should be treated with extreme caution if walking with a dog as there is a significant Tick risk on this walk. We have just completed the walk to Watersmeet and my Labrador was infested with brown ticks. Not very nice and the vet has been busy.

Did this walk on a lovely sunny and freezing cold 31/12/2008. It is a lovely walk but definitely more strenuous that its distance would suggest - but well worth it for the lovely views and variety of environments it passes through. My GPS clocked the eleveation gain at 1200m, not the 150m quoted. Note that at waymark 7 the pub referred to is now called the Bridge Inn.
