This walk starts near Hopwood Hall College and passes through local nature reserves. Walk alongside a stream then along country lanes, passing housing estates and a school, along normal roads and then back onto a public footpath, which starts as a lane then crosses a field, farmyard and back to a lane. Walk alongside a busy motorway and then onto another country lane, passing between two woodlands and alongside Hopwood Hall College. A short diversion near the end of the walk takes you through another wood with a large pond with lots of waterfowl, then back to start point. There are lots of wildlife and woodland.

Just past WM09 there are two building sites (one each side of the path). The footpath is open. I completed the walk today (29/10/2019). If you do not want to walk through between the sites the alternative is to continue down the road to the junction. Turn right and walk up the road passing under the motorway and past WM11 to reach WM12. This adds approx. 750 metres to the walk.

Did the walk yesterday (23/8/16). Part of the path between WM09 and WM10 is quite overgrown after approx. 200 metres of the WM and for approx. 75 metres to the first stile. It is passable. Just natural growth.

There is a problem with a footpath closure between WM10 and WM11. The only alternative is to turn right at WM07 and walk along main road to WM11 or take the short cut. This reduces the walk by approx. 1 mile. There is an on-going application to re-open the footpath. I am monitoring the situation.

Step 7 wording 'Continue along this road' should be omitted as it is confusing. Step 9 the footpath leading to the first stile is waterlogged and virtually impassible
