This walk, near Kingussie on Speyside, is a circular walk in an RSPB nature reserve with lots of bird life, varying with the seasons. The flood-plain of the Spey supports various ducks, geese and a variety of wading birds (listed on site) while on the moorland section ospreys (we saw two), buzzards and roe-deer may be seen.
The early part of the walk includes visits to an information centre and two hides overlooking the marshes, while the latter is a little higher, on heather moorland with birch copses. Paths are good and there are splendid views to the Monadhliath Mountains and across the Insh Marshes. Stout footwear is recommended.
There is a picnic site at a viewpoint on the moor. This is a very pleasant and informative family walk (with dog) and with refreshments etc at nearby Kingussie.
