Leswalt's Aldouran Glen

Aldouran Glen means 'Glen of the Otter'. This is a most pleasing short walk set in the North Rhins of Wigtownshire, about three miles north-west of Stranraer. It features a colourful community garden, a wetland with bird hide and a sculpture trail, all with all-ability access, followed by an undulating path through a sequestered woodland glen above the busy Aldouran Burn. Return is via a hedged farm track, descending to Leswalt by a minor road, with extensive views over Loch Ryan.
The walk route is the culmination of an initiative by the local community association. Though it is an easy walk, the wooded glen section could be muddy at times, so walking-boots are recommended.
Sad to say, the Kirkland Farm Shop with popular tea room, close by your start and end point at Leswalt Village Hall, was closed last time I visited.
Information for Wheelchair Users: the community garden, the wetland area and the bird hide are all wheelchair-friendly and easily accessible by way of the vehicle track at Waymark 04. A radar key may be obtained from the village store.
Information for Dog Owners: the route is considered suitable for biddable dogs.
