The walk is short and takes in Valle Crucis Abbey before going round or over Velvet Hill. The choice is yours, over-the-top if you are fit and round-the-base if you are not.

The walk starts with a visit to Horseshoe Falls, where the water is diverted from the River Dee to the start of the Llangollen Canal. It then follows the canal towpath, passing Berwyn Station on the Llangollen railway. There is a real chance of seeing steam trains here and also horse-drawn barges on the canal.

The pathway at point 9 on the walk has become unpassable due to landslip. If you continue onwards down the track, a safer path down to the footbridge can be found.

6/14/2005 - Keith Allen

A thoroughly pleasant walk although worthy of note is the path down to the stream at Step 9. The path has eroded away at a point where two slopes meet making its crossing somewhat challenging and hairy (particularly as we had a pram and 9 week old baby with us!!)
