The walk starts at the Snowdonia National Park 'Ty Nant' car park, below Cadair Idris. Most folk parking here will set off up the mountain on the Pony Path (see Walk 874). We however, leave the crowds behind to head over the hill to the King's Youth Hostel and climb to the ruined chapel of Rehoboth. A steady climb next, to the moorland below the distinctive Pared y Cefn-hir hill. Once past the hill, we now reach the two lakes of Llynau Cregennen, where there are paths aplenty to explore.

Once you've taken your fill of these beautiful lakes, it's not too far down to the valley floor and the quiet lane back to Ty Nant.

Dog owners, please note the presence of livestock over much of the route and also a few distinctly dog-unfriendly ladder-stiles.

Completed this walk in good weather in July 2015. Directions are excellent and it is a thoroughly enjoyable walk. Lots of birds to see. Worth mentioning that the car park at Ty-Nant is pay and display and you will need 5 x £1 coins to park for more than 4 hours. Frustrating to get there without being prepared for this! Also the area around the lakes is quite boggy so waterproof footwear is in my opinion essential.
