Malham Cove is undeniably one of the most amazing places you can visit in Northern England. It sits just a few miles north of the A59/A65 route across the Pennines, so access is easy and parking isn't a problem in the village nearby. This is only a short route. It starts off just by the National Park Information Centre and follows a section of the Pennine Way Long Distance Route north into Malham Cove. The cove itself is remarkable with its 80m high overhanging wall and its limestone pavement just above. Of course, this is a magnet for climbers, just like Stanage Edge in the Peak District, but here the scale makes them seem ant-like!

Once you have managed to absorb the amazing atmosphere of the cove it's time to gain some height and see the views down from the top! The limestone pavement on the rim of the cove is something different altogether and worth plenty of time to explore whilst you are here. The return journey takes you along a footpath to a quiet country lane and follows that back down into the village, where you can enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs or cafes.
