This is an easy moorland walk. Good paths take you round Mendick Hill which dominates the route for most of the way and follows the route of an old Roman road. Two miles from the start there is access to the summit of Mendick Hill. As you walk past Garvald Farm you emerge onto the open moors.

Done this walk 30.04.11. Point 6 we came across keep out signs trespassers will be prosecuted but undeterred we carried on and on the gate at the bottom there was sign saying the path was a project funded initiative. At point 6 it should read "once you have joined the minor road turn right and walk about half a mile to the junction sign posted Garvald and turn right". Point 9 we did walk through a gate pillared entrance but please note it looks like there should have been other gate pillars but they have been removed. Doing this walk in April this is lambing and calfing season and because you are walking through the fields I wouldn't recommend this walk for dogs during spring. Overall it was a nice walk and we did enjoy it.
