Mere Sands Wood and Rufford - a canal loop to the north

The walk is flat and is a mix of woodland, towpath and little used lanes. There are several points of interest along the way, such as Rufford Hall which could be added to the walk, as could the pubs and cafes in that area. Away from Rufford and Mere Sands Wood you will find this a very quiet walk with wide views of the nearby Pennines and the attraction of canal boats. This walk is an addition to my exploration of the Rufford branch of the Leeds-Liverpool canal and overlaps with others only very slightly on the canal stretches.
