This walk starts from Milcombe, a few yards along the road from where stands a handsome dovecote. It leaves the village across fields and takes a track to nearby South Newington, a very picturesque village, with beautiful cottages and a fine church containing 14th Century wall paintings, one of Thomas a Becket. The route then takes in some truly remarkable countryside, with magnificent contours that affords the walker glorious views, before arriving at the attractive village of Barford St Michael. It is the squat-towered Norman church that is first encountered, in peaceful surroundings where sheep graze. From here the rest of the walk is delightful, through open fields and meadows where brooks and streams are crossed by footbridges and the beauty of nature is ever-present.
