The walk starts from the village green of North Aston, around which attractive houses are clustered, then goes on to Middle Aston through stunning countryside and on to the edge of Somerton on a short length of the tranquil Oxford Canal.

On footpaths and bridleways, country lanes and canal towpath, the walk is varied and interesting, often with panoramic views over a patchwork array of fields, woodland and valley slopes, where far-off churches depict the various villages to which they belong. This is a very enjoyable route with plenty to offer, which will valuably occupy a morning or afternoon.

The section of A4260 referred to at point 3 is a very busy dual carriageway with no protection between you and cars hurtling along at 70-90 mph!! Recommend missing this out and carry on along the single track road to point 5 - much nicer.
