The walk starts in Stoke Bruerne where there are two pubs, two tea rooms, a restaurant and a canal museum.

Much of the walk is on flat arable land. There are several small pockets of woodland along the route and also some grazing land. In March there are lots of lambs in the fields that you walk through.

The canal goes underground and you actually walk over the top of it. You will be able to see the ventilation towers for the tunnel.

There is an old monastery in the village of Shutlanger, where there is also a pub.

The route is fairly flat with no serious climbs, partly following the 225-mile-long Midshires Way, a long-distance bridleway and footpath across Middle England.

There are plenty of opportunities to shorten the walk using different footpaths.

I walked this with a friend and his daughter on a very hot day... Nice walk, the instructions were very clear. It makes for a pleasant walk through the countryside, though if you are after views of the surrounding countryside this is probably not the walk for you (Though it may be different in winter with no leaves on the trees!) It has the added benefit of two canal side pubs in Stoke Bruerne. I chose the Boat...
