Although this walk is not of great length, it contains a huge amount of historical interest and beauty. It starts from the National Trust car park of The Kymin and takes downward woodland paths towards Monmouth and on to Wyesham, before the steep climb back to The Kymin. Here there is a small, round banqueting house and a naval temple built by the gentlemen of Monmouth to commemorate the great victories of the Royal Navy and its admirals. Nelson himself visited The Kymin in 1802 and expressed surprise that he was known on 'such a little gut of a river as the Wye'. He also remarked that it was one of the most beautiful places he'd been to. HRH Princess Margaret inaugurated the reconstruction of the naval temple on 28 July 1987.
