A very enjoyable circular walk from Tomnavoulin, near Tomintoul, Glenlivet, has good views all the way up to the summit of Carn Daimh ('Hill of the Stag', 1,860ft) and superb 360-degree panoramic views from the top: west to the Cromdale Hills, east to the Ladder Hills, north to Ben Rinnes and south to the Cairngorms. 90% of the route is on open ground, with pasture at lower levels and heather moor higher up. Paths are good. Because of the height and exposure of the route, bad weather clothing should be carried. Dogs are welcome but should be tended where there are sheep.

The nearby Glenlivet Distillery (NJ 195291) two miles north of Tomnavoulin, has a visitor centre with an exhibition, shop, cafe and toilets and the product may be sampled.
