This walk explores the southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds as they dip into the flat Fen country around Boston. The area is steeped in history, from prehistoric to the present day. From Waypoint 1 you cross the site of a Civil War Battle to the site of a bloody slaughter. You approach the start of the walk along Slash Lane, commemorating the Civil War battle. From here it heads south along a very quiet tarmaced lane past the village of Hameringham, past the lost village of Dunsthorpe and climbs to Hameringham Top. Here you can get fantastic views out as far as Boston (20+ miles away). From here on the walk drops gently to the hamlet of Miningsby in the more wooded country of the Fen edge before turning west along a tiny gated lane through the site of the lost village of Claxby Pluckacre and on to Holme Wood Lane. It turns north along this ancient unsurfaced lane with its undisturbed flora lining the way. Across two fords (both foot-bridged) and then another lane to emerge - literally on the lane to Hameringham. It returns to Waypoint 2 via the lane and a footpath through Hameringham churchyard and round the north edge of the village. From here it uses the outward route to return to the carpark.

Enjoyed this walk, mainly on country roads with far reaching views, but some long bridleways with plenty of wildlife to see. We did take a detour at Ham Farm, in the field between the metal gates, as there were cows with young calves, not a good combination! Very easy route to follow.
