From the very sizeable village of Woodford Halse, that has a considerable number of shops of all descriptions, this walk is in the midst of lovely rural Northamptonshire agricultural land. It visits the site of a Medieval village, where stands the beautiful little Church of Charwelton.
The route then takes on part of the Jurassic Way, to pass Medieval fish ponds and cross the dismantled railway, climbing gently to give distant views of undulating countryside. The straight course of the bridleway back to Woodford Halse is along a hard laid track in very attractive surrounds.
The village is well worth a wander around, and you could take home a bargain pair of shoes from the huge choice on offer at Faulkners, well known for value in the locality.
