This walk starts from the delightful village of Wormleighton, crosses fields and passes through the site of the medieval village through farmland and on to the peaceful Oxford Canal, which meanders around the natural contours of the land, circling Wormleighton Hill.

Hi Done this walk today with my wife although we altered the route by getting onto the canal at the first bridge, 133, and walking the towpath to bridge 128. (We are great fans of the canals.) Found the directions to be useful and enjoyed the walk although the ground was soft under foot, probably due to time of year, until we came over bridge 128. The ground from there to the farm buildings was hard and rough but easy walking despite the ruts left by tractors. We also found the village a nice place to visit. Although my wife is not a walker, she enjoyed it, and found it easy going. Nigel & Roz

The contributor has contacted Warwickshire County Council who have taken a look at the area of concern. The overgrown hedge will be dealt with. The footpaths officer who attended has stated that the electric fence has insulated handles to release the fence in order to get through, this is in order. He also remarked that landowers do not have any responsiblity to make facilities for dogs on rights of way. Ron Glynn

We did this walk today in the fog, perhaps not the best day to get the most out of the walk; unfortunately no views at all. The village of Wormleighton is lovely. The instructions were very easy to follow. Dog Walkers beware! When you have walked across the field (the site of the medieval village) the stile which takes you to the canal bridge is a bit overgrown and there is no way through for a dog - only jumping the 5 bar gate (sheep wire all around the field). Also a word of warning - the section on the approach to the farm and the fields after the farm, are huge open areas sectioned off with electric fences. They were off today as the cows are in for the winter, but I think it would make things very tricky from the Spring onwards when the cows are out. I assume the farmer would leave a right of way (there is a bridal way through there as well) but I certainly would not attempt it with a dog when the cows are out.
