The perfect base for exploring Andalucia

At the crossroads of Andalucía, Almohalla 51 is a boutique guest house in the historic quarter of Archidona, just 45 minutes from Malaga airport.

From the front door there are walks of varying levels and many more a short drive away. There are other superb activities readily available including horse riding and kayaking, plus the delights of a traditional Andalucian town.

Almohalla 51 is beautifully decorated and offers the perfect base for exploring this amazing region whether by foot or by car.

Archidona is a beautiful and historic town centred on the 18th century Plaza Ochavada and overlooked by the stunning hilltop Sanctuary of La Virgen de Gracia and Moorish castle. Once the capital of Málaga province during Moorish rule, Washingtion Irving describes the town and its rich Moorish heritage in his famous Tales of the Alhambra, which is now listed on the same official tourist route.

It also has a wealth of atmospheric bars and restaurants offering plenty of choice for lunch or an evening out. Local dishes include Porra Archidonesa, a delicious tomato based dish, porrilla de setas, mixed wild mushrooms, or papandujas de bacalao, cod balls dressed in sugar cane honey. Molletes, hand made bread rolls drizzled in olive oil are perfect for breakfast and for an afternoon snack the local convent sell homemade biscuits and cakes.
