This walk is short in mileage but long in interest. The wood is rich in mosses and as it is a larch wood, it is shady in summer but lighter in winter. When the larch needles fall it is like walking on a carpet. In the autumn there are varieties of fungi to be found.

Really sorry as Pat normally produces excellent walks, but this walk is virtually impossible to do. Walking down the road from the lay-by is ok, but when you get near to the cattle grid, the walk becomes a dice with death on the road. Once through the cattle grid, you are at the peril of fast moving traffic on a blind bend with little room to move in. We had to abort the walk. We would recommend this is re-written, it is a very dangerous start to the walk, so much so that we felt it very unsafe. We almost got stranded, frightened to move on the first road section.
