Guisborough is located on the northern edge of the North York Moors National Park, nestling at the foot of the hills. This walk takes you up its three peaks: those of Roseberry Topping, Little Roseberry and Highcliff Nab.
The walk begins by leading you up through the Forestry Commission woodland, to reach open views towards Roseberry Topping. On a clear day from this peak, the views stretch out across County Durham to the west and across Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and the coast to the east.
From here the walk takes you up Little Roseberry and then across the closest edge of the moorland towards Highcliff Nab. In autumn, this section will be a riot of purple from the masses of heather.
Highcliff Nab itself provides outstanding views of the whole of Guisborough and beyond to the Eston Hills, Redcar and the coast.
The walk concludes by descending back through the woodland to Hutton Village. The terraced houses in the village were built to house the miners who worked in the nearby iron mines that were the cause of the collapse of Roseberry Topping.
