After a short stretch in woodland, the path reaches open country and to the north, open views of the Coed y Brenin Forest appear. Turning south-west, the path runs high above the River Mawddach. The ground drops steeply into the valley so that young children will need to be well-supervised, but there are no sheer drops. The path is good, but occasionally rocky.

At the end of this section, views open out, first to the sea at Barmouth and then over Dolgellau to the northern flanks of the Cader Idris range, almost certainly one of the most beautiful panoramas in Wales. Finally one returns following the banks of Llyn Cynwch until retracing the final few hundred yards to the car park.

This is a wonderful walk, most enjoyable with stunning views, especially towards Cadair Idris and the Barmouth estuary. It is not really a precipice, more of a long gentle slope downwards. This is a popular walk, the path is clear and sign posted in some places. There are no longer any ladder stiles, just follow of the gravel pathway.

This afternoon, we walked the breathtakingly stunning 'he Precipice' walk, flanked by snow capped mountains, alpine forests and alongside a beautiful lake on the home straight. This wonderful walk provided us with 360 degrees views of the surrounding landscape, including a magnificent vista of the Mawddach estuary, looking down towards Barmouth and the open sea beyond. Loving life, living in the Snowdonia National Park. Many, many thanks to Ian Morison for posting this wonderful walk. Highly Recommended.

Walked this on a late summer weekend, what a perfect walk with amazing views. There are now no stiles at all throughout the walk, all have been replaced by gates. Very dog friendly if your dog is well behaved but may be better on a lead if not as the paths are very narrow and rocky in places.

Great views and an easy walk. Watch a short, easy to watch video of the walk here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg1nL6F4wDs

A sunny and panoramic complement to late snow the day before on Cadair Idris.

Walked this August 2005. All clear and walkable. Highly recommend this walk - nice and easy, and with stunning views.

I enjoyed this walk. Great feeling of height, but without the climb. Good views even on a poor day.
