The walk goes to a prominent feature at the back of the town, a hill crowned by a watchtower dating from the 17th Century and part of a national chain. Much of the route is on tracks, with only two fields, one of them long with a boggy patch, so the going is fairly easy. You will be rewarded with good views from the summit. One short stretch is steeper than it used to be because the zigzag path has been straightened in the interests of forestry work, but this is not long and it can be taken slowly.

Brilliant walk although navigation to the watch tower isn't easy. This was 2nd attempt. Having completed this lively circuit walk I would do the opposite way round ie where you rejoin the walk on way back. Great for dogs. Mostly off the lead. Loved playing in the wood and in the stream. Will definitely be walking again. A great find.

Did this walk yesterday , well worth it and easy to follow , only point we go mixed up on was , page 6 , it does actually state go straight on , but you soon come to a left turn , which goes over the river , this is not the way , it actually is straight on . But it does slightly confuse you as both paths go behind houses .
