This linear walk is part of The River Ayr Way from Catrine to Failford. It follows close to the river through trees and fields. The last stretch at the moment is over rough ground away from the river and is not so straightforward.

The walk has magnificent views of the River Ayr and the surrounding countryside. It is well away from habitation but has easy access at two points. It passes interesting historic bridges and houses, as well as being through beautiful established woodland.

It can be easily reversed to return to starting point (making the total distance eleven miles).
