For a cracking day out with a cracking wee walk thrown in, I recommend Pollok Country Park, part of the vast estate owned by the Maxwell Family for seven centuries. There are no stiles on the route and you could walk round it in plimsolls, or even carpet-slippers! Glasgow seems a million miles away as you enjoy magnificent woods, admire the heavy horses and fields of Highland cattle, visit Pollok House with its treasures and top it all by viewing the world-famous Burrell Collection.

Culture doesn't come any more accessible than this!

The Burrell Collection is free, but admission charges apply for Pollok House, except for NTS members.

Information for Wheelchair Users: the circuit is considered suitable for wheelchairs.

Information for Dog Owners: dogs aren't generally much interested in museums or country houses, but will appreciate all the fine trees to be found on this walk. However, this is sheep and cattle country, so dogs should be kept on a leash.
