Arnside sits on the border of Cumbria and Lancashire. It's barely more than a village, with an old-fashioned promenade and miniature stone pier jutting out into the estuary. This walk however, stays firmly on dry land. It starts from the National Trust car park on Arnside Knott, a small hillock behind the town, passes through some woodland and then drops down to the shoreline and along the promenade past a couple of pubs and the railway station. The walk then wends its way through the village and back up to visit the summit of the Knott for glorious views across the bay and over to the Lake District Hills.

We did this walk over the Easter weekend. It's a nice walk but at waymark 10 the path has been fenced off we managed to go round the back of the garage in the picture and get to the path only to find it had been blocked by a lot of tree branches that had been dumped across the path obviously to stop people using it. We did manage to climb up to the top only to find the gap in the wall isnt there. Again we managed to get around the end of the wall because the chain linked fence has been broken down. But again attempts have been made to block the path. It looks very much like somebody doesn't want this path to be used.

Fabulous short walk, section 12 quite steep. Section 18 the wall at the bottom of the hill has been rebuilt.   Go down the hill and turn right when you reach the wall at the bottom.

Great walk. Fairly short but strenuous enough to have you puffing at certian points. Worth noting is that at point 12, if you are heading for the wicker gate, then a hint when looking for it is to "look upwards!"

Fabulous walk. We thoroughly enjoyed this one. Completed it mid week and few people around. fabulous views and a nice lunch stop at the Albion too.

Took a train out to Arnside and started at Waymark 6. One of the few fine days we have had recently and what a lovely walk. Quite an easy climb up Arnside Knott and stunning views from the top. The worst part was the steep path at Waymark 10 but if the conditions are really bad it can be avoided by turning right at Waymark 8 and then next left to arrive at Higher Knott Road.
