Tewkesbury and The Severn Ham

Tewkesbury is a historic town dominated by timber-framed buildings with overhanging eaves. Its location at the meeting point of the Rivers Severn and Avon has prevented the old town from expanding and its character and medieval layout has been perfectly preserved. The town is dominated by its 12th Century abbey, which has the highest Norman tower in Britain, standing 148 feet high.

The walk is a figure-of-eight. The first loop will give you a tour of the town including the abbey and take you around the Severn Ham, a large island of meadowland at the meeting point of the two rivers. If you are looking for a very short and easy walk, it is well worth taking on just this loop of the walk, which is 2.5 miles long with no height gain. The second loop then heads out of the town along the Severn Way and then back again via a golf course.

Generally flat walk and easy to follow. Takes in some of the Battlefield walk sites including Bloody Meadow that looked remarkably green. Easy access to walk from Caravan Club Site.
