Haresfield Beacon is a National Trust site jutting out of the Cotswold escarpment and giving spectacular views all around. It was also the location of a Romano-British hill-fort. The first half of the walk follows the Cotswold Way as it loops its way around the Beacon and then passes through woodland to Scottsquar Hill and onto the Edgemoor Inn, a very popular 19th Century pub and restaurant which overlooks the beautiful Painswick Valley. It is well worth stopping here and it is conveniently about the halfway point of the walk. The return route passes through more woodland close to the small village of Pitchcombe.

Fantastic walk, beautiful with the glorious colours of Autumn. Amazing views from the beacon, even on a slightly misty day that we walked on. Highly recommended if you are in the area, as are all the walks round her to be fair.
