Starting at Leybourne Church, this is a pleasant walk through the Garden of England and a bit of history starting near the castle remains with prehistoric connections. A short walk along part of the Pilgrims' Way, passing the Neolithic Long Barrows, then you can stop off for a rest in a pub dating from 1516, to pass by a modern-day housing estate. Cross the bypass, where you then get to see the remains of Leybourne Castle before returning to the church.

The stiles have been updated to kissing gates. The footpaths at way markers 3 & 6 are more defined. Sid Marks's comment of 3/7/11 regarding waypoint 16, is an alternative route. Maybe his note should read as you approach the church here left.

A very nice walk, splendid views. An ideal family walk. Nearer to 8 miles than 7. Just a few pointers to look out for: At waymarks 3 & 6,the paths are now well defined. At waymark 16, you need to walk through the church grounds, exit through a gate, and turn right to reach the path through the woods. You eventually arrive at a footpath on the right leading to a road. Don't take this, but turn left over a footbridge to carry on with the walk.
