This walk is long, but very enjoyable. It starts and ends in Wetheral, and within the first mile you visit 6th Century Historical Caves carved out by St Constantine.

Walking along the banks of the River Eden you use well marked footpaths, but at times these paths can be very muddy. They also reach some breathtaking heights as you will find out, but beware, there are no fences, so be careful. The walk is easy to navigate, but I suggest going South first and return by the Northern route.

You will use quiet country roads, river banks and lots of footpaths, with the most spectacular ending. If you have no head for heights, then you will have to add another THREE miles to the 16 already done – you have been warned!

The ending is over the railway bridge that links Great Corby with Wetheral, pedestrians are allowed over it (thank you bridge builders of the 19th century), and the views are tremendous!

Did this walk yesterday and what an experience, not sure if good or bad, views are great but be aware this is not a walk at river level, some paths not available and you climb up some very steep muddy paths and some had been washed away, not for the faint hearted. One to take about when my legs stop hurting.
