The walk is based on the National Trust car park, The Wizard and is a circular walk to the village of Mottram St Andrew. The first half uses bridleways and there are also some short stretches along quiet lanes, thus reducing the number of stiles to cross. The scenery is very attractive, with long views from the highest point. There is a pub at the start and at weekends, a cafe, both highly recommended.

Good walk although extremely muddy at the moment. Would be nice to try in summer 1/32015

We did this walk today as I am looking for a walk to lead for Stockport Walkers Group C. This is just the ticket (with a stretch of road avoided) and is an excellent walk. The directions were very clear and we had no problems finding the route. The weather was just a perfect warm spring day and the walk is through beautiful surroundings with extensive views in parts. Although the NT car park was extremely busy we saw very few people on the walk itself. Thanks for posting the walk!
