This walk links some of the popular paths around Delamere with some less well-known ones. At several points there are splendid views: south towards Peckforton and beyond towards Welshpool; west to the Berwyns and Clwydians; north to Liverpool and east to the Pennines. If you are very lucky, you may be able to see Foel Fras near Conwy. Hedgerow plants and birds are plentiful and there are usually buzzards and kestrels in evidence. A hill-fort is visible from the top of The Old Pale.

Most of the route is on tracks or footpaths but there is about a mile on quiet metalled roads. There's a farm cafe at Waymark 16 but as of December 2014 there's no current information on the web. The local apple juice is worth trying. There's also a cafe near Waymark 19; see http://www.delamerecafe.com/index.shtml for more information.

Regarding the comments in Waymark 16, we did the walk yesterday and can confirm that the Eddisbury Tearoom is indeed open, Wed to Sun 10 - 4 for food, drinks, cider, fruit liqueurs etc. The owner is very friendly and says he is usually there even when officially closed and will provide snacks and drinks. He can offer free parking if you contact him on 01829 751188 - well worth it given the extortionate charges at the Delamere Forest visitors' centre!
